One thing I can say: Rich Paul represents LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Lakers, but I’m told the Lakers are not part of Fox’s preferred destinations. However, Fox is now officially entering the NBA trade market.

Sacramento Kings reportedly open to De’Aaron Fox trade offers before deadline; Fox is rumored to prefer Spurs
Sorry Kings fans, this sucks.

If the Sacramento Kings trade De’Aaron Fox to the Spurs, San Antonio will be a better team than whatever the Kings put together with the pieces they get in return.

Source: De’Aaron Fox’s agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, recently sent word that it would be wise for the Kings to move him now.
Even with Fox’s preferred destination – widely believed to be San Antonio – Fox’s side will remain open to all destinations.

Ok, let’s say San Antonio is indeed the De’Aaron Fox team.
What is the trade package? Can the Kings extract Stephon Castle? How many picks are in this thing? How much do they prioritize control of their 2031 first back? – 4:48 PM

I’ve been told that De’Aaron Fox has created a vision board for his target destination. – 4:32 PM

If the San Antonio Spurs make a play for De’Aaron Fox, that would fit the Wemby Window — when Wemby’s still on a preposterously-cheap rookie-scale deal through 2026-27. sports.yahoo.com/the-rookie-sca…4:20 PM

According to multiple sources, if De’Aaron Fox leaves the Kings via trade, his preferred landing spot is the San Antonio Spurs. It could be an interesting couple of days in Sacramento. – 4:15 PM
Erik Slater @erikslater_
Regardless of how you feel about the Nets’ interest in De’Aaron Fox, this is the position they wanted to be in.
They are rebuilding, but if a big name becomes available, whether via trade or FA, they have the flexibility to be in the mix.
Optionality is never a bad thing. – 4:10 PM

This De’Aaron Fox thing is interesting. Not sure I remember a “Can you guess where I want to go?” breakup. – 4:04 PM

Who’s the best player you would trade for De’Aaron Fox? – 3:53 PM
Matt George @MattGeorgeSAC
The Kings can’t afford to get the De’Aaron Fox trade wrong. At all.
Stars are hard to come by in Sacramento to put it lightly. You get this wrong, you’re right back to a long playoff drought. – 3:53 PM
Matt George @MattGeorgeSAC
Remember, preferred destinations aren’t end all, be all.
Regardless of if the Kings should trade De’Aaron Fox or not, they’re going to make the best deal for THEM, not Fox/Klutch. – 3:50 PM
Sam Quinn @SamQuinnCBS
If I were De’Aaron Fox I would be thinking San Antonio all the way. Wemby is going to win somebody a handful of rings. I wouldn’t be trying to go somewhere just to lose to OKC now and Wemby later.
But history suggests that Miami and Houston are likelier. Better markets. – 3:48 PM

Not too hard to figure out De’Aaron Fox’s ideal destination. – 3:47 PM
Gerald Bourguet @GeraldBourguet
A week ago I volunteered a crazy 5-team Suns trade for Jimmy Butler that involved De’Aaron Fox, but I didn’t think the Kings would entertain it given their win streak at the time. It’s still probably crazy and unlikely, but… bit.ly/40lyYaF3:42 PM

Can confirm that the Kings appear open to listening to De’Aaron Fox offers heading into the Feb. 6 deadline. League source says Fox, who has continued to signal a lack of interest in extending, has a destination in mind. More to come, at @TheAthletic

JUST IN: The Sacramento Kings are expected to open up talks to potentially deal All-Star De’Aaron Fox ahead of Feb. 6 trade deadline, sources tell ESPN. An ugly first half for the Kings in Brooklyn. They trail the Nets 54-47. De’Aaron Fox and DeMar DeRozan each have 14 points to pace the Kings. Sabonis has 9 points and 11 rebounds. – 8:45 PM

More on this storyline

Jonathan Wasserman: Likely Fox suitors with extra draft ammo Spurs: Own 1sts, ATL’s unprotected 1sts in 2025 + 2027, Minn’s unprotected 2031 1st, Bulls 2025 1st top-10 protected or 2026 top-8 protected Nets: Own 1sts, 4 unprotected NY 1sts, Bucks 1st top-5 protected, 76ers top-8 protected 2026/27 -via Twitter @NBADraftWass / January 28, 2025
Ian Begley: The Nets, per sources, are among the teams that view De’Aaron Fox as a trade target and have been monitoring the Fox situation in SAC. ESPN reports Kings are expected to listen to offers ahead of trade deadline but Fox has preferred destination. He is under contract through 2025-26. Nets, obviously, have significant trade assets to use to acquire a player of Fox’s caliber. There will be plenty of teams calling the Kings on Fox ahead of the Feb 6 trade deadline. -via x.com / January 28, 2025
